‘Have Mufti’s betrayed those who voted for PDP to keep BJP at bay’

New Delhi: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leadership was never wrong in saying they wanted to bring a change in J&K. Change (Badlaav) has come. Yes, a great change which Kashmir’s had never seen… It will be for the first time Saffron Brigade ruling in J&K. What could be a great change than this for Kashmir?
Anyways, call it a ‘unholy marriage, love Jihad , Ghar wapsi’ or whatever terminology you use, it is final that Mufti Muhammad Syed will be the groom of this marriage- the alliance between PDP and BJP.
The development could be pretty strange for the people, and at the same time it must be shocking for all those who defied separatists boycott call only to keep rightwing BJP out of the power in a strife torn state like Jammu and Kashmir.
During elections people in thousands would say they voted for PDP only to keep BJP at bay. “If we don’t vote this time, BJP will come into power. We want a change and it is PDP which will bring the change,” people would say.
Yes, Mufti’s were not wrong they brought the change in J&K, a great change people have never seen. They would be seeing for the first time saffron brigade ruling the state.
How things turned around even after these unfortunate people voted for PDP only to keep BJP at bay, but they could see BJP still coming in the power through backdoor and that too hand in hand with PDP.
Is this another political betrayal with the people of Kashmir? Time will tell.
It is widely believed that NC founder Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah, commonly known as Sher-e-Kashmir, betrayed with the people, but has Mufti even went a step ahead. Let the people of Kashmir take a deep thought over it.
People must be remembering that Sheikh didn’t allow Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mukherjee to enter Kashmir, but Mufti embraced Mukherjee ideology by hugging BJP for the sake of power.
These lakhs of people in the state especially in Kashmir valley who voted for PDP only to keep BJP at bay would have hardly even thought in a dream that Mufti’s would finally wed a lock with BJP.
During the election campaign all the PDP leaders right from its patron Mufti Muhammad Syed to block level leaders promised that PDP would never enter into any alliance with BJP.
The PDP leaders during the poll campaigning would raise emotions of people with these words…
“There is no question of forming government with BJP. We will never allow the state falling into communal hands. BJP are killers. We still remember Gujarat massacre and other anti-Muslim acts. We will never forget BJP’s communality against Muslims,” these used to be the common words of PDP leaders.
PDP was hoping of emerging as a single largest party with some 35 plus seats in the 87 member assembly of the state, but that didn’t happen. PDP managed to bag only 28 seats. PDP could have preferred to sit in opposition, but they didn’t do that because they are not Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP.
Now PDP is all set to form the government with BJP, which the people of this unfortunate land would have never even imagined. However, this is all politics and Kashimiris are used to such political stunts.
Best of luck to Mufti’s PDP and its legislators to run the state along with their BJP guys for the next six years.
