The evolution of civilization across world has given birth to various philosophies and ideologies in different nations. For example nationalism, communalism capitalism, feminism and Nazism etc. interestingly one thing common among them is suffix ‘ISM’. -ism is a suffix in many English words, originally derived from ancient Greek, and commonly used in philosophy and politics. In Kashmir also there is ‘ism’ philosophy or ideology like separatism, Sufism etc. Now there may be a new addition to the list of ISM`s and that would be characterized as ‘Fake-ism’. In the last decade or two there have been incidents in the Valley were word fake has come into play like Fake encounter, Fake drugs and Fake appointments. In Kashmir, fake encounters took place in Pathribal and Maachil in 2000 and 2010 respectively. In the year 2013, the case of fake (backdoor) appointment and supply of fake drugs to hospitals were uncovered. Few months back, the health department ordered a probe into the list of 2400 employees whose appointment had been declared fake and illegal by Director Audit and Inspections. In this month, drug control department of Indian of State found that a counterfeit version of an antibiotic Maximizen (amoxicillin trihydrate), was supplied to several government hospitals in Srinagar, jeopardizing the lives of many patients.
The investigation report said: “The samples failed in the identification test, and the contents of amoxicillin in the samples were found nil.” The drug is supplied to associated hospitals of the Government Medical College (GMC), Srinagar. After this report, the President of Doctors’ Association of Kashmir (Dak) Dr Nisar-ul-Hassan made another shocking revelation in a press conference he alleged that the injection Curecef (Ceftraxone) was declared fake by an analytically report in 2011, but the report was not exposed. Besides all these issues (of fake), one more interesting matter of fake is related to the peace situation here because J&K is yet to see the dawn of actual peace.
