It has become a norm in our part of world to blame a particular person, community or an institution for failures and troubles. For example teachers are blamed for failure of education, doctors for failure of health sector and a government employee for the corruption. There is no doubt in the fact that government has completely failed to check the menace of corruption. Rather, it has bowed down before it. However, this does not rule out the responsibility of society in tackling this evil. It is important to point out here that there is a section among common masses, equally responsible for propagating corruption. There is no doubt about the fact that a big section of people are suffering due to few black sheep’s and are ultimately forced for corruption. In administration also we find honest officials. However, our administration system is so much corrupted that even for an honest official, it is difficult to breathe. He is recognized as an antigen in this system and is countered with different antibodies.
An individual who has money but not time uses former to get his job done in less time while as a poor guy who may have time but not money becomes the victim. Every day we see people debating on corruption and solely blaming government.
When a person pays bribe to some official or a department for some illegal work. Next day, we find same person condemning the system for corruption and others people without knowing anything also join him in it. But hardly does any person think about why he paid bribe? Fake documents, illegal constructions, illegal land grabbing and fake drugs supply etc. all these scams are result of this corruption. People involved in it give birth to a corrupt system which does not run unless you enter password ‘BRIBE’ in it. Conceding that government has failed to stop corruption, we as society have to ponder over its abolition. A civil society cannot afford to lose fight against an evil and learn to accept it as good.
‘The only thing required for evil to triumph is that good men do nothing’
