Pakistan`s Top Priority

After almost 14 years, Nawaz Sharif has made a great comeback in Pakistan. At this point of time Pakistan is on the brink of economic collapse and its citizens have suffered horribly from the ongoing violence. Besides, there are few foreign matters like relation with neighboring India, and the unpopular counter-terror partnership with the United States. Fortunately, most of the rest of the world will be hoping for Sharif to succeed in resolving these matters. Pakistan’s burgeoning population of nearly 200 million people, expanding nuclear arsenal, and history of regional violence are all reasons to hope he can get his country turned in the right direction. Previously, Nawaz may have displayed more interest in consolidating his political power
than governing effectively. But now it has to be different, since the
internal matters like grim economic scenario and violence. Therefore, he will want to focus on the internal matters as well as foreign matters. While Indian Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, had said that both he and Nawaz Sharif want to take bilateral relations between the two Asian neighbors forward and resolve all outstanding issues in a peaceful manner. Pro-freedom leaders in J&K also hoped for improvement in the relations between New Delhi and Islamabad as PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif took over as the new Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Pertinently, both the PM`s of India and Pakistan have already invited each other to visit their respective countries.
On the other side of spectrum there is a strong voice inside PML-N that urge upon Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to focus on tackling
domestic problems. The power crisis in Pakistan is said to have
overshadowed almost everything else. In this scenario Nawaz’s desire to rush for improving ties with India may get slow. Even though at start the Pakistan`s newly elected government may try to focus more on internal matters, but at the same time it has to keep a track on key external matters like relation with India.
