Lal Ded Represents Rot

One of the premier and oldest government hospital of Kashmir is Lal Ded Hospital. The hospital provides exclusive services and emergency and interventional care in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology besides providing for facilities of Antenatal and Post natal care for women from all over the Kashmir. The Hospital also provides services on Out patient side and In patient care to the patients admitted in the many wards.

But, current the hospital is in shambles owing to inefficient administration and lagging quality. The picture portrayed by hospital is quiet gloomy. As a matter of fact, more than 90 percent of population of Kashmir is dependent on this hospital.

Here the patients have to wait in open agonizingly for their respective turn. On macroscopic level, the OPD section is most of the times marred by chaos and people are struggling to find their respective treatment points on account of absence of direction points. To add to the woes of patients, only a handful of basic tests are conducted in these hospitals and the infrastructure for conducting complex medical tests is almost non-existent in the said hospital.

Painfully enough, the nurses resort to massive corrupt practices as soon as a new baby is born. Ground Zero realities show current medical Superintendent of Lal Ded Hospital Dr Mushtaq has failed badly as an administrator and aggravated the rot.

Gulzar Ahmad , a patient attendant stated – “ Inefficiency and corruption have become symbols of Lal Ded Hospital.Basic facilities are absent . Rude and corrupt behavior is also visible as heavy sums are demanded once baby is born. Overall Lal Ded Hospital of Kashmir seems to be presenting a gloomy outlook and calls for the concerned stake holders to improve the scenario related to this paradigm towards an era of positivity and betterment.”
