YSS Organizes Engaging Sports Activities for J&K Youth

Srinagar, April 18(KNB) : The Department of Youth Services and Sports Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) under its endeavor to engage the youth of the Union Territory in various sports and recreational activities, organised a series of matches in different games on Thursday across all the 20 districts of the J&K. Under the Department’s initiative, the District Youth Services and Sports Office Srinagar successfully organized a captivating volleyball match and other recreational activities at Eidgah sports zone in the district.

The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing different educational institutions of Srinagar. Their active involvement showcased their potential and fitness in the field of games and sports. Over 50 girls from the Sports Zone Rainawari actively participated in this event, reflecting their immense zeal and enthusiasm for sports.

The event, which took place at GHSS Nowhata, also featured an important aspect of sensitization about the ill effects of drug menace. Students were educated about the consequences of drug abuse and were encouraged to take an oath to refrain from using illegal drugs.
The presence of senior functionaries of the Department such as Zonal Physical Education Officer Rainawari, Rifat Shafi, and other officers from the department added value to the event, fostering a sense of accomplishment and motivation among the participants.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports is committed to promoting an active and healthy lifestyle among the youth of Jammu and Kashmir. These engaging sports activities not only provide a platform for showcasing talent but also encourage physical fitness and overall well-being.
Meanwhile the Department on Thursday organised a cycle rally at Humanity Public Hr. Sec. School Bari Brahmana Samba in Jammu division under the Sveep Programme. These initiatives are being taken to aware general masses about importance of participating in the electoral process.
Following the annual sports calendar of the Department, student players were engaged in Badminton, Volleyball, Carrom, Chess, Kho-Kho, Jump Rope,, Rope Skipping and other activities at district Ganderbal.
These events saw enthusiastic participation from a large number of students. The primary aim of these activities is to prepare students for upcoming zonal level inter-district competitions. Meritorious students were duly recognized and felicitated by officials within their respective schools, further motivating them to excel in their chosen sports.(KNB)
