army Army conducted a lecture on ‘Save the Girl Child’ at Balapur on 30 Jun 2015. Alarm bells started ringing when the census 2001 and 2011 data was released.  It revealed a drastic fall in the sex ratio, especially in girl child sex ratio.  Overall female sex ratio has fallen shockingly from 934 to 920 per 1000 males.  Hence, to create awareness between different stakeholders and community of Valley, Army conducted lecture on ‘Save Girl Child’. The civil degnitries and teachers were invited to present thought and they educated people. “Provision of better education to girls, remove disparity between male and female child, girls are the pillar of a family, if girl ratio decreases, how the society will develop” such concepts were covered during the lecture.  They were also made aware that the act prohibits sex selection and government has also set up machinery to check misuse of technology and to catch defaulters.  As many as 137 ultrasounds machines have been confiscated by the Govt and legal action against 89 defaulting practitioners and clinics was initiated.  But this can only be ceased if each person in the society have understanding about the necessity and importance of the girls.

Mr Farooq a teacher of the primary school said, “he have two daughters and very proud and said that he is much focused for their education and well- being”.  He also added that he is much inspired and ever grateful to Army for taking such initiative.

The Awaam was looking inspired and much aware after the lecture and appreciated the efforts of Chinar Corps in initiating such awareness campaign at remote places.
