Awantipora 26 December (KNB): Police arrested two drug peddlers, who were carrying contraband substances, at a checkpoint established at the Dattpora area of Awantipora.
According to the statement, the police have identified the two drug peddlers as Rayees Ahmad Bhat and Mohammad Dawood Bhat both residents of Reshipora Awantipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 14Kgs of poppy straw from their possession.
Later, they both were arrested and shifted to police station Awantipora where they remain in custody and a case FIR No. 199/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in police station Awantipora and investigation into the matter has been initiated. (KNB)
