Baramulla, Dec 28 (KNB): The people of Kashmir are no less in talent and intelligence from the people in rest of India, but the painful events in the valley has somehow restricted the going out of our youth to other parts for work, studies as there is a psychological barrier associated that we won’t be a accepted beyond the tunnel and with career options being few here unemployment has raised to a considerable high.
However despite all these odds there are a good number of examples of persons who have earned their names in different fields outside the valley.
Nayeem Ashraf (28) and Shabir Ahmad (30) popular by the name of Nayeem-Shabir hailing from Sopore town, alumni of Neither field school Sopore have made a place for themselves in music industry. They will be working for a movie “Sarfira” under the banner of Limraa entertainment. Back home in 2003 the duo has opened up a Musical band “Sangam”.Their hard work ,dedication and passion towards music has finally paid them.
Another young boy hailing from Batpora area of Sopore Alumni of Saint Josephs School Baramulla Shoaib Nissar who after completing his computer engineering from SRM Chennai moved to Poona and started working in a software company.
“Life here would have been different if I would have thought of staying here only. There is so much to explore outside, so many career options and people here treat you the same way as anyone would treat you at home and I believe that we should try working outside as well as it gives us a better perspective of the world as you interact with people coming from various backgrounds”, he said.
Not only boys but girls are breaking the stereotypes and shining in various fields. Samia Mehraj a girl in her twenties who also hails from Batpora area of Sopore has worked with various organizations like world wildlife fund, Bombay Review magazine and presently she is pursuing her masters in fine arts from Ashoka University Delhi. A B.Technology pass out Samia says that in “Kashmir one can either choose MBBS or go for engineering as there are limited options but when you come out of Kashmir ,you can choose do multiple things at a time. There are various literary clubs where you can hone your talents, only after regularly going to poetry and writing clubs I came to conclusion that I can write as well and in near future I am planning to write some books”. There are a lot many people who preferred to study and work outside rather than getting stranded in Kashmir. Every society needs development and we can only achieve that if we educate ourselves and choose better paths. While our counterparts outside valley achieved name in fields which possibly is not even possible for us to do. (KNB)
