PDP’s hypocrisy on Haji Yousuf case exposed: NC

Srinagar, July 19: National Conference has called into question PDP’s ‘hypocrisy in continuing to engineer malicious propaganda’ about the Haji Yusuf case while simultaneously admitting ex-IGP Crime Raja Aijaz Ali into its fold and giving him a mandate to contest the forthcoming Assembly elections.

National Conference has said that PDP’s mandate to Raja Aijaz Ali, in addition to the earlier findings of the Justice Bedi Commission, have completely exonerated Omar Abdullah of all false accusations leveled against him by PDP.

Stating that PDP General Secretary Muhammad Dilawar Mihad perhaps on the instructions of his party bosses ascribed his name to a pre-designed news statement, NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu asked Muhammad Dilawar Mir to ask his party bosses to introspect and realize that PDP had lost the right to falsely accuse anyone about an incident of forensically proven natural death due to a heart-attack after it had embraced the top crime cop who was not only investigating the case in the immediate aftermath but had also been given a hale and hearty Haji Yusuf’s custody at the CM’s residence. “It is pertinent to note that a completely normal, hale and hearty Haji Yusuf was handed over to the custody of ex-IGP Crime and now PDP leader and candidate from Uri, Raja Aijaz Ali at the Chief Minister’s residence. This is proved by CCTV footage that became a part of the investigation”, the NC Spokesman said. The NC Spokesman said that PDP had surprisingly and invariably involved its own leader and ex-IGP Crime Raja Aijaz into a legal web of contradictions unless Raja Aijaz comes out and excludes himself from his party’s statement. “PDP should note that its current candidate from Uri and ex-IGP Crime Raja Aijaz Ali was among a list of people cross-examined by

the Justice Bedi Commission and his depositions and statements before the Commission hold legal weight”, the NC Spokesman said. “What cannot be highlighted enough is the fact that now PDP leader and Ex-IGP Crime Raja Aijaz Ali was the first person to get the custody of Haji Yusuf after Yusuf was found involved in acts of fraud and misrepresentation. On Yusuf’s involvement coming to fore and this being a criminal matter, Omar
Abdullah had demonstrated utmost professionalism as mandated by law by handing over Yusuf to the custody of then IGP Crime and present PDP leader, Raja Aijaz Ali. At that time Yusuf was completely normal”, the NC Spokesman said. “Should we believe what was allegedly deposed on electronic media about Haji Yusuf’s alleged vomiting or should we
believe what was found by the Bedi Commission after the cross-examination of Raja Aijaz Ali? The Commission had clearly described reports of alleged vomiting untrue and false. This was also proven false in the post-mortem of the deceased. Before coming to the battleground with lies, PDP should do some research to at least ensure that it is not landing its own leaders into legal soup”, the NC Spokesman said while saying that PDP – as is its tendency – was out to have the cake and eat it too.

The NC Spokesman said that unlike PDP, which believes in hushing up all allegations against its most senior leaders while in power, National Conference Working President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah went above and beyond merely “following the systemic procedures” and sought not only a Magisterial Inquiry but also announced a Judicial Inquiry into the matter. “All inquiries completely exonerated Omar Abdullah of all false accusations. This was substantiated by scientific and forensic evidence as well”, the NC Spokesman said.

Stating that PDP should come clean on the service records of its “new faces” and the corruption charges and unresolved scam findings against its “old faces”, NC Spokesman said that PDP was extremely unnerved by the fact that the party stood exposed as a safe haven for not only corrupt but criminal elements as well. “From taking in the most corrupt and criminal faces in the State into the party fold to demonstrating an uncanny ability to invent opportunities to loot and plunder public wealth and resources, PDP broke all records of corruption in the State during its tenure and made J&K the Number One Corrupt State in the Country. Rather than coming clean on serious charges of corruption and embezzlement against its senior leaders, PDP is now out to barter the State’s regional character for power by being hand-in-glove with a lobby in Delhi that is actively working to launch an assault on the State’s special status”, NC Spokesman said.
