Srinagar, Jan 18 : When PDP core group met in Srinagar, it did not extended invite to MLA Zanskar, Syed Mohammad Baqir Rizvi, who was appointed by late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as Vice chairman of J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board.
The exclusion of Rizvi from the meeting, which lasted more than four hours, has led to resentment among the supporters of the MLA who won from Zansker as independent and later merged with PDP.
While Rizvi declined to comment when contacted by news agency Global News Service (GNS), his supporters expressed anger over the decision of PDP leadership.
They said that PDP’s decision not to invite Rizvi to participate in the core group has hurt them and “has clarified that Rizvi does not belong to the party.”
“He (Rizvi) was promised by late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed (former Chief Minister) that he will be appointed as Minister of State but later he was appointed vice of KVIB to assure him that he belonged to the party but everything is clear now,” the supporters told GNS.
PDP president Mehbooba Mufti chaired the marathon meeting, first time after Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s demise on January 7. MPs like Muzaffar Hussain Beig and Tariq Hamid Karra, who were critical of the coalition’s functioning in the past, also participated in the meeting.(GNS)
