Most wanted militant and top Lashkar-e-Toiba commander Abu Qasim, a Pakistani national, was killed in an encounter at Khandaypora Kulgam in the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
“We received specific information about the presence of Abu Qasim, he was the most wanted militant in Jammu and Kashmir from five years,” said IGP Kashmir, Syed Javaid Mujtaba Gilani.
He said, “Death of Qasim is a big achievement.”
On October 7, Qasim had killed Jammu and Kashmir Police’s top counter-insurgency officer Altaf Dar of Zanglipora Kulgam at Gund-e-Dachhin in Bandipora. Qasim had cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head in
addition to another Rs 10 lakh announced by National Investigation Agency.
