Arrests, Deaths, Blindings by pellets and destruction of crops has defined the tyranny faced by the people of Kashmir, who continue to live life of suffocation and the treatment meted out to the people of Kashmir has been worse to say the least.
Recently, a one-and-a-half decades’ struggle of animal rights activists has finally yielded result as the Central government has ordered that sale of pellet or air guns will be only through a licenced arms dealer.
The activists had been campaigning against unrestricted sale of pellet guns as they claimed that these weapons were being used against birds, squirrels and dogs and a joint petition was made to the government for restricting their sale.
But it is unfortunate to note that here in Kashmir pellets have been used against protesting masses. Commoners are aggrieved that Kasmir is back to old days of pain and violence.
On ground, PSA is pushing a generation to wall and via its implementation adding fuel to fire o it should be scrapped soon.
Public Safety Act ( PSA) was enacted to curb timber smuggling but in Kashmir slowly and steadily it was used to crush political dissent.
With every hint , from killings to blindings Kashmir has emerged as symbol of inhuman treatment
