‘Remaining three out of danger’

Srinagar, Apr 03 : A CRPF trooper who was injured in the militant attack in Srinagar outskirts has succumbed, while two others are critical.




CRPF spokesman Rajesh Yadav told KNS that one CRPF personnel, identified as Bassapa of Karnataka, of 97 battalion has succumbed to his injuries in the hospital, while two are critical and are in Intensive Care Unit. Yadav said that the remaining three soldiers are out of danger.

Six CRPF men and a school girl were injured after an attack by unidentified militants in Srinagar outskirts at Singhpora, Panthachowk Monday afternoon when they were moving from Jammu to Srinagar for election duty.

The CRPF men were part of a convoy that was on way to Srinagar from Jammu for by-poll duty in Srinagar parliamentary seat which is slated to go for polls on April 9.
The injured CRPF were immediately shifted to Army Hospital in Badamibagh cantonment, Yadav said.

This is the third such attack on security forces in the last three days. On Saturday three army men were injured in Bemina when militants attacked them. On Sunday evening, militants killed a policemen and injured 11 other forces personnel by lobbing a grenade in Nowhatta here when they were withdrawing from their day’s deployment.




Security forces say that the militants are trying to intensify the attacks to disturb the by-polls for two parliamentary seats in Srinagar and Anantnag. (KNS)
