Srinagar : In a sting operation conducted by Kashmir Scenario team, an SMC official, can be seen demanding Bribe in Lakhs to facilitate illegal construction in the City. The revelation that has come to fore could further dent the already tainted image of the Civic Body. The actual scene is visible in this video below:

Kashmir Scenario Team who took part in this sting operation to expose wrongdoings in Srinagar Municipal Corporation confirmed the name of official as Mohammad Sayeed who is at a designation of Ward Officer ( Ward number 5 ). This All began when sources informed this newspaper about the Demand of Bribe by Ward Officer,to facilitate the illegal construction.
“The Ward officer would threaten the People of not allowing the construction if demand for money was not met”, sources said
“Not only work would be stopped but that the under construction building would be demolished”, the sources added.
In the video itself it can be heard how the official in question said there was fixed rate for every illegal construction but that the rates would vary from Floor to Floor.
