Srinagar | Oct 18 : Minutes before the BJP office bearers, district and block level leaders pledged “to strengthen their party at gross root and fight like soldiers for their nation India”, they literally squabbled each other to fetch rice plates for the lunch.
The leaders including district presidents, block and constituency level functionaries of the party had entered into arguments when they were supposed to stand in a queue to wait for their turns to get a rice plate for lunch. The BJP had organised its first party convention here at Banquet hall since the uprising began in Kashmir on July 8, after the killing of militant commander Burhan Wani. The meet was presided over by BJP president Sat Sharma and those who were president at the occasion included BJP State Secretary Ashok Koul and others.
While there was a delay of around one-and-a-half hour for serving the lunch, the BJP leaders lost their cool and pushed each other to get their turns first when the officials of the Protocol department started serving the lunch.
Many BJP leaders left the venue without eating anything as they said they found it difficult to find a place in the chaos created by the senior functionaries.
As things turned uglier making it difficult for the employees to serve the food, it forced the senior BJP office bearers like Altaf Thakur (media incharge Kashmir), Dr Ali Muhammad (State Publicity Secretary) to meddle and control the situation.
Later, Thakur and Dr Ali took charge of the buffet and served food to their local leaders. The Press Trust of Kashmir captured the whole scenes in their camera which will soon be published on its social media platforms.
However, things still didn’t come under control forcing women workers and elderly to stay away from the chaos and wait for their turn at the end. Even the media persons who had gone to cover the event also stayed away from the chaos that was created by the BJPs district and block leaders during the serving of food at lunch.
“What kind of discipline they will show others. This is sheer show of indiscipline,” said one BJP worker. (PTK)
