Srinagar, March 30( KNB): Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh, Father of Sheikh Imran- Businessman turned Politician who is in preventive custody has written an open letter to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
He writes:
Mr. Prime Minister
Hope you doing well
You must be very busy these days, tackling with the prevailing worrisome situation in light of Covid19. As a premier, head of the country undoubtedly you have the greater responsibility to take care of the countrymen.
Sir as I pen down this open letter when the number of Corona virus cases in the Jammu and Kashmir are touching 40 with two death, there is a grave threat of it spreading to prisoners languished in different jails out here, among them is my beloved son, former Deputy Mayor and still elected Municipal Councilor Sheikh Imran.
He was confined to detention soon after 5 August 2019 developments. The charges and accusations against him are not heinous in any way. Imran is the person who beating the odds jumped into mainstream, thus developing a positivity idea of mainstream politics in the hearts and minds of youth in Kashmir, and emerged as a youth icon in erstwhile trouble torn state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Unfortunate, he has been victimized on the basis of political vendetta, as I said; the charges and accusations against my son are not heinous in any way. You are a leader of tall magnitude, I hope you will consider the appeal of distraught father in these times and ensure release of my son as Corona Virus threat looms large over prisons.
Our entire family needs him at this critical juncture, I urge your honorable self to consider my pain, as his mother is sick and I too being a patient having suffered Lung Hemorage sometime back. He is my lone son, and we at this time of global crisis need him at least on Parole till this threat wards off.
I hope you will give the distraught family relief soon and pray you also overcome from this catastrophe like situation aroused in form of deadly Corona Virus.
With utmost love and regards
Mushtaq Ahmed Sheikh,
Father of incarcerated Sheikh Imran
