Inauguration and Annual Day of Darul Mohsinaat, Home for Special Girl Children Held

“The aftermath of armed struggle is marked with numerous challenges, the major being the growing number of orphans. Many orphanages have sprung in the name of catering to the needs of orphans of Kashmir with only a few genuine names to count, which too cater to the needs of only two thousand orphans whereas their number has touched two lakh as was revealed” by the eminent Social Activist and patron Islamic Relief & Research Trust (IRRT), Kashmir H.R Hanjura at the Inauguration and Annual day of Darul Mohsinaat Home for Speacial Children on 7th, July 2013 at Singhpora, Pattan. Darul Mohsinaat is catering to the need of few special girl children, whose parents have become victim of the ravaging conflict. Hanjura in his address spoke of the numerous challenges facing the society especially the Special Children who are being neglected, and scores of other problems. Also the problem gets compounded when it comes to girl orphans because there are only a few institutes that cater to their needs. He deliberated the obstacles faced by activists like him, plus the need of multi-dimensional work in voluntary sector, which is being neglected by the people of Kashmir. He lamented the fact that only a few people are giving Zakat to the needy ones, while the majority is negligent towards this fundamental of Islam. It is due to this negligence that the grave neglect towards these special children can be witnessed in Kashmir. He also threw light on the projects that IRRT runs for the welfare of these downtrodden sections of the society.
Altaf Ahmad Malik, Administrartive head of Darul Mohsinaat formally welcomed the guests and delved on the necessity of taking care of orphans from an Islamic and Quranic perspective.
On this occasion Prof Hamid Naseem Rafiabadi, Director IRRT, lambasted the Ulema of having failed to sensitize the Muslim masses about the importance of paying Zakat as well as rehabilitation of orphans and catering to their special needs. Prof Rafiabadi further added that Prophet Muhammad(SAW) wasn’t send as an orator, but as a teacher but the Muslims are failing to implement what they preach, there is a wide gulf between their preaching and practical life, till this dichotomy isn’t solved nothing substantial and constructive can be expected from them.
Imam of local Jamia Masjids, Peer Ghulam and Ghulam Mohiuddin also spoke on this occasion and lauded the efforts of IRRT for establishing a new girl orphanage. They insisted the masses to pay Zakah and take care of the orphans too.
The Inauguration ceremony was followed by a question and answer session as well as interaction with the audience, and with a vow by the office bearers will undertake more such endeavors in future also. A decision for organizing an Iftar Party for women on 16th July, at Darul Ehsan was also announced on this occasion.
