AASIYEH FLAYS AUTHORITIES OVER IMPOSING BAN ON PARDAH IN ATM BOOTHS

Srinagar, Jul 2 : Dukhtaran e Millat (DeM) chief Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi has strongly reacted to the reports of veiled women not being allowed to enter the ATM booths to withdraw money.

She said in a statement that to discourage the Islamic veil is condemnable attempt. Aasiyeh, however, asked all the Pardah observing women not to obey the illogical and un-Islamic order of so called authorities.

“After a girl wearing an Abaya was caught while committing a fraud in an ATM booth there are reports from various areas that the Burqa clad Muslim women are prevented from entering any ATM and are asked to enter while their faces not veiled’’ Aasiyeh said and added that the dictate un Islamic and unaccepted. Showing strong reaction the Dukhtaran e Millat president has further said “since there is a clear order in the Quran for women to be veiled, especially while they are out, Muslim women love the veil more than anything and can never compromise on this at any cost”. She has further said “how can one expect Muslim women to remove the veil for even a big worldly benefit not to talk of using mere ATM services’’.

She added that the banking ,including ATM services, has become an unavoidable compulsion in present days world and no sane person can deny the fact so like others Muslim women too need to have access to such important services but they should not be made to come at the cost of basics of Islam.

She said that a single incident cannot be the basis for such an illogical decision. Aasiyeh further said ‘‘a single incident cannot justify doubting whole women folk and if the issue is only about preventing the fraud then there are many ways of doing so excluding the ban on Burqa.”

Explaining she has said that there can be no objection if a Burqa clad women is asked to prove her identity by showing a valid identity card before entering the ATM booth but asking her to remove the veil and get her face captured by the camera is un acceptable.

Aasiyeh said “by the grace of Allah awareness about the importance of Pardah is fast spreading and more and more women, especially young girls ,are turning to this special command of the creator .However it seems that some forces are getting restless by the trend and they have devised a plan to discourage this(Pardah)”. She has further said that this all can be a big conspiracy against the Islamic veil and a plan to discourage it. While cautioning the concerned she has said that Kashmir is a Muslim society and the consequences of any step taken should be calculated before hand. “We hope that those who have taken the illogical decision will roll it back and will not compel Muslim society, especially the women, to come on roads for safeguarding the sanctity and importance of the Islamic veil” the statement reads.(KNS)
