Srinagar, July 18: Two militants were killed by army when they were attempting to infiltrate into this side of Line of Control in Gurez sector of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district today.
An army official said that the two infiltrators were shot dead after army noticed suspicious movement near LoC in Gurez. “The infiltrators were challenged after which they opened fire. The fire was returned, ensuing an encounter in which two militants were killed,” he said, adding that operation is in progress.
In a separate incident, an army soldier was killed in Naugam sector of Handwara in Kupwara district in a sniper fire. Sources said that an army soldier posted at Sangam post was hit by a sniper fire from across the LoC, resulting in his on-spot death.(GNS)
