Top JeM commander killed in J&K encounter

SRINAGAR: Top-most commander of militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad, was shot dead Tuesday by security personnel in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, police said.
Qari Yasirr, A Pakistani national, was one of the senior militant leaders in Kashmir.
“He had been the Jaish chief in Kashmir for the last three years,” said Kashmir inspector general of police Abdul Ghani Mir told HT.
The shootout took place at Garewad village in Lolab. Yasir was killed around 6.25am, said an army official who did not want to be named.
The fire exchange took place after security forces spotted suspicious movement of some persons and challenged them, the official added.
