Srinagar, June 27 (GNS): The State Press Forum has hailed State Government for setting up of empanelment committee and has termed the move as “historic”.
According to GNS, an emergency meeting of the forum was held at its Abi Guzar office on Saturday during which the members thanked Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed, PDP president and Member Parliament Mehbooba Mufti and Principal Secretary BB Viyas for delivering their promise in short period.
The Forum has appealed government to empanel all those newspapers who are without government advertisements from last many years so that they can sustain. The forum has appealed the government to hold the meeting of empanel committee as soon as possible.
Pertinently, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had announced during the budget session of the State Legislature that the existing one-man Empanelment Committee would be replaced by a broad-based panel to ensure more transparency in empanelment of newspapers for entitlement to government advertisements.
