State Press Forum calls on PCI Team

PCI assured editors of highlighting their grievances at appropriate forums

State Press Forum today called by Press Council of India here at Circuit House, Srinagar. SPF delegation was led by Malik Sajid, Sanam Ajaz, Sheikh Imtiyaz, Aadil Ishtiyaq and Syed Junaid ul Islam.

During the interaction, SPF raised different issues including recent empanelment meet which ignored some of the newspapers without any proper and genuine reason. After floods, the newspaper in Kashmir face another jerk by state’s new advertisement Policy-2016 which being harsh and self-contradictory and aiming at discouraging newspaper Industry in a big way.
SPF sought the intervention of PCI in facilitating  justice in empanelment of newspapers and added financial support from the Central and the State Governments to the newspapers in J&K through advertisements. It was cleanly cleared to the PCI team that meeting of empanelment was not done according to the norms and rules prescribed by State Information Department.

The team member assured SPF that their grievances are genuine and will be highlighted at appropriate forums and resolved accordingly.
