TKSNN: Sri Lanka were 215 for three, 50 runs ahead of Pakistan in the first innings, at tea on second day of the second Test here at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Thursday.
Opener Kaushal Silva and veteran batsman Mahela Jayawardene were at the crease with an unbeaten fourth wicket partnership of 127 runs after Sri Lanka lost two early wickets this morning.
Sri Lanka were reeling at 88 for three when former captain Jayawardene joined young Silva and both batsmen provided a great fight to take out their team from trouble.
At tea, Silva was 92 not out and just eight runs away from his maiden Test century while Jayawardene has just completed his 46th Test half-century.
It was Silva’s second consecutive fifty as he had scored 81 in the second innings of the first Test at Abu Dhabi last week.
Fast bowler Junaid Khan took two wickets and Rahat Ali claimed one wicket.
