Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium, the only international cricket stadium severally damaged in view of PM’s rally venue

SRINAGAR, 06, DEC: Sher-e-Kashmir cricket stadium, which is set to be the venue for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s December 8 rally, has not only been turned into a military garrison, but the only international cricket stadium here which was going through massive repairs and renovation has been severely damaged.

The stadium apart from witnessing make over for Prime Ministers Rally has been severally damaged by digging by the security personnel for security concern. On the other hand the only stadium in valley faced huge damage due to the recent flood fury. Pertinently this stadium was once again taken over by the Jammu and Kashmir cricket Association from security forces after twenty years since the arms insurgency broke out in conflict ridden valley.

Worth to mention this is the stadium where India VS Australia and India VS West Indies one day international matches were played in 1983 and 1986.

Cricket lovers and Cricketers in Valley expressed concern over the damaging of the stadium saying that the only ground was already waiting for attention for renovation and repair apart from building further infrastructure but now the rally has added woes to our concern. Cricketers’ adds that they wonder how JKCA has allowed to hold rally in a cricket stadium that too when it is being damaged heavily by the security agencies and rally organizers.
