Srinagar, Jan 31: Senior Hurriyat Confrence leader Shabir Ahmed Shah, Nayeem Ahmed Khan, Farroq Ahmed Dar (Bitta Karate) and Muhammad Yousuf Naqash were on Thursday evening put under house arrest by a large contingent police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), spokesperson Hurriyat Confrence Jammu and Kashmir said.
According to the spokesperson of HCJK, authorities later in the evening on Thursday put restrictions around senior leader’s house and prevented outsiders to enter their houses.
He said, “Police has also raided several houses of party leaders including party activists who were later arrested in the darkness.”
While criticizing the house arrest of senior leaders, spokesperson of HCJK said, “Authorities are using undemocratic and cruel tactics to curb the political activities of senior leaders.”
Party spokesperson termed the restrictions of senior leaders as illegal and unjustified. He also said, “These are the worst kind of human rights violations occurring continuously.”
