As the valley agitation has entered four months and the education sector stands crippled; on their part the voices of sanity are calling for JKBOSE and Kashmir University to heed to calls for Syllabus Relaxation .

Pertinently ,Students have in latest move appealed to Chairman BOSE for concessions in syllabus for 10th and 12th exams.

On the otherhand, students have been agitating for deferment of exams for 10th and 12th class, as schools have remained closed for over three months and the students have not been able to complete their syllabus. Education Minister Naeem Akhter is on record that no concession in syllabus will be given. Chairman BOSE Prof Zahoor Ahmed has reiterated stand of the Government that it will go ahead with the scheduled examinations of class 12th and class 10th, commencing from mid-November. He said that they are aware that student protests are taking place and that authorities are ready to give concession to the students, but students have not made any representations before the BOSE authorities about their grievances and demands. Many student groups have accordingly appealed Chairman BOSE to consider their genuine request for granting concession in syllabus, as their syllabus and laboratory works are incomplete. They have appealed the Chairman to take a humane view and not to make it a point of prestige.

An academic analyst states – ” The need of hour is to grant Syllabus concession to students and in case concession is not granted in syllabus majority of the students will not be able to fair well in examinations, which can cause serious mental trauma and also adversity impact their prospects for eligibility to different colleges as well as competitive examinations.”
