Srinagar| Putting an end to political uncertainty, Tasaduq Mufti, the only son of late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed will be new chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, tweets PM Narendra Modi.
PM Modi has sent best wishes to Tasaduq Mufti and hoped that he will carry forward the initiatives taken by late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
The tweet reads: “My best wishes to tasaduq mufti, brother of Mehbooba mufti, who will be the next CM of Jammu and Kashmir. I hope he will carry forward the Late Mufti’s Political vision on J&K and Pakistan Initiatives.will be present in oath ceremony on 25th jan. at Jammu.”
Ten days after Jammu and Kashmir was brought under Governor’s rule, the Peoples Democratic Party’s core group in a crucial party meet on Tuesday, its president Mehbooba Mufti told the core group leaders that she had talked with Nagpur headquarters to bring Tasaduq as CM in coalition government. Tasaduq who was reluctant towards joining politics has atlast understood that Politics is better than Bollywood.
“As far as PDP is concerned, we are unanimous with what Mehbooba Mufti decided and Tasaduq sahib shall succeed,” senior PDP leader Muzaffar Hussain Beigh has reportedly said.
“The core group has authorised party president Mehbooba to take whatever decision on it (government formation) we unanimously accept Tasaduq sb to lead PDP BJP government,” another PDP leader Naeem Akhtar said after the marathon 5-hour meeting of the party’s core group.
He also said that, “The PDP has not set any conditions for government formation with the BJP, It was unanimously decided by Mehbooba ji and head of BJP from Nagpur Headquarters. He also refused to say if Mehbooba continues as Parliament member,or not.”
Former CM Farooq Abdullah on hearing the news said, “PDP was on fire when they heard JKNC will tie its knots with BJP. This decision of PDP is immature and it seems they want to ruin state as the PDP was unhappy over Prime Minister Narendra Modi not having visited Sayeed when he was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi before his death while Congress president Sonia Gandhi had visited Sayeed in the hospital and also called on Mehbooba in Srinagar after his death.”
“This is not good, a person like tasaduq who has not even been in Jammu and Kashmir from so many years will be next CM, I will move to International Court of Justice to seek re-Poll in the region. This is a gross voilation to the Human Rights perpetuating in our state as he dont even know ABC of JK Politics which is considered to be toughest in the world,” Abdullah added
Although no one from the BJP has so far opposed Mehbooba’s Descion, as final decision on the issue has be taken by the party high command in Nagpur. In the 87-member J&K assemblym PDP won 28 seats and BJP 25 while National Conference got 15 and Congress 12.
