Not able to upload or download consumer details due to internet suspension, say officials, People demand early delivery of bills to avoid financial burden

Srinagar, Sep 28 :The Power Development Department (PDD) has failed to process and deliver the bills to the valley based consumers citing the ongoing internet clampdown as the major cause of delay.
According to the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the PDD has been on toes to keep the supply of electricity uninterrupted in the region amid prevailing uncertainty and communication gag.
The officials at the concerned department have clarified that the delay in billing have caused by the capping of the internet services in the region which is only source through which the consumer usage is transferred and processed in the billing.
Mohammad Ashraf, an employee at PDD told the wire service—KNO,”The billing services continues to remain affected because of the internet suspension, which is the source of transmitting the usage data of every individual consumer.”
He told KNO that due to the ongoing clampdown the employees of the department have faced several challenges but this one is out of their control. He further added, “The prevailing uncertainty and the internet gag have disturbed the working of every single employee of the department and what added more was the recent 72 hours long protest (of PDD employees) which put the entire department at standstill.”
Abdul Rahmaan, a consumer of PDD from Srinagar told the wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that, “I receive my electricity bill on the first or second of every month but this time two months already passed with no bills.”
He told the wire service that he was thinking that the state administration might have waived off the bills for two months of uncertainty that have caused huge losses to the people of region.” He further added that,” The bills must be dispatched as soon as possible to avoid more financial burden on the debt-ridden people of the region.” (KNO)
