Srinagar: A militant was killed as a gunbattle raged between militants and security forces in Pulwama district of South Kashmir today, police said.
The encounter started this afternoon after security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Gudoora Pulwama in the district, about 35 kms from Srinagar following information about presence of militants there, police said.
By evening, one militant was killed in the gunbattle, police said.
The gunfight is still going on when the last reports came in.
