NYC official running sand mafia in Kreeri suspended, had attacked officials, threatened them, case registered

Baramulla: 11 May(KNB): Tehsildar Kreeri has ordered suspension of Rayees Ahmad khan working as NYC in the department of youth services and sports posted at Higher secondary school Athoora after he ‘threatened officials of dire consequences.’

According to locals the accused was running a sand mafia in the area. “In order to stop illegal mining and sand extraction the government has given many warnings to these miscreants. Nevertheless, the sand mafia did not stop and continued their illegal mining and extraction of sand,” locals said.

Tehsildar Kreeri Baramulla along with his field staff visited the village Bangdara where illegal extraction of sand has been carried out for a long.

The Tehsildar concerned swung into action and seized the material, sand, boats, and other tools used by them and was handed over to chokidar of the village concern.

“But one government employ namely Rayees Ahmad khan working as NYC in the department of youth services and sports posted at Higher secondary school Athoora misbehaved with the field staff and threatened them of dire consequences,” officials confided.

Later on, the chokidar concern was attacked by these sand mafia persons and was threatened also.

SHO Kreeri received a complaint from one Ghulam Ahmad khan chokidar of the village and FIR was lodged against eight accused in Police station Kreeri identified as Rayees Ahmad Khan, Ubaid Ramzan Khan, Jehangir Ahmad Khan, Rouf Ahmad Khan, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan, Javid Ahmad Khan, Tanveer Ahmad Khan, Showkat Ahmad Khan.

Moreover, Rayees Ahmad Khan was immediately suspended and attached to the office of Naib Tehsildar Kalantara for further duties till enquiry into the matter.

“It is in place to mention that these miscreants have also become a big threat to the ecosystem and general public. We received many phone calls from villagers and they said we are helpless before these miscreants and nobody is ready to raise voice against them,” they said. The locals have thanked SHO Kreeri for his timely action. (KNB)
