Baramulaa, Septemebr 20(KSNN): Tension gripped the Rafiabad area of north Kashmir after a 9-year-old girl was raped and ‘buried alive’ on Thursday evening under a mound of rubble. The minor was rushed to a medical facility but could not survive.
The minor girl, daughter of Mohammed Rustum Najar was studying in 4th class in government middle school, Daazna in Rafiabad in Baramulla district.
“When she returned from school, she spent some time with me and then she went outside to play with other children. When she didn’t return back till evening we began to search for her,” father of the victim Mohammed Rustum Najar said.
“While we were searching we heard screams in low tone and ultimately found her buried alive in mud behind our house,” Najar added.
Alleging that her daughter was raped before getting killed, Rustum said she had injury marks when we evacuated her from mud and was bleeding profusely.
“We immediately rushed her to primary health centre Dangiwacha and later to District Hospital Baramulla where she succumbed,” he said.
Soon after the news spread in the village, thousands of people came on roads and demanded immediate arrest of culprits.
Medical Superintendent District Hospital, Baramulla, Dr Bashir Ahmad said that a team of four doctors conducted postmortem of minor at 10 AM on Friday. “The cause of death is asphyxia and victim has also been sexually assaulted,” he said.
He said we have forwarded blood samples of victim to Forensic Laboratory, Srinagar for further investigation.
Police have registered a case and started investigation into the incident.
Superintendent of Police, Sopore, Imtiyaz Ahmed said, “We are investigating the matter and as per the locals, the victim has been found under mud in a mysterious condition,” he added.
