Vehicles seized,meat outlets sealed,Sopore Police acts tough against lockdown violators

Sopore 24 April(KNB):Sopore Police on Friday stepped up ongoing efforts to prevent coronavirus and enforce lockdown more strictly across Rafiabad by taking action against people violating norms and shops breaching rules including those on social distancing.

The Police teams continued their work of checking vehicles and the passes issued by the department.Police teams of Dangiwacha Police Station were seen checking vehicle documents at various places.The Police also set up new check posts at several junctions and thoroughfares in Rafiabad to prevent unnecessary movement on the road.

On the directions SP Sopore Mr Javid Iqbal,SHO Dangiwacha Rafiabad Mr Ashiq Hussain today sealed a meat shop in Hadipora Rafiabad for selling meat for non- maintenance of social distancing norms and 35 kgs of meat and knives were seized from the shop and in addition to this many vehicles who were defying the lockdown and were flouting distancing norms were also seized from different villages of Rafiabad and a case in this regard was registered accordingly.

Meanwhile 100 bags of cement were also seized along with truck bearing registration number JK1W 3583 from Rafiabad as the cement was being unloaded by a dozen of persons who were defying lockdown and were flouting distancing norms.

Lockdown norms like social distancing are applicable to groceries and vegetable markets as well and action was being taken against those responsible for violations SHO Dangiwacha Mr Ashiq Hussain told Kashmir News Bureau.

Legal action will be taken against all those who will defy the lockdown and against those who will function in a manner against Covid-19 measures SHO Dangiwacha added.

It is pertinent to mention that SHO Dangiwacha Mr Ashiq on the directions of SP Sopore Mr Javid Iqbal met various Masjid Imams and respectables of the society and a decision was taken in which they were directed by SHO Dangiwacha to ensure the compliance of lockdown and social distancing during the month of Ramadan.

Meanwhile Lieutenant Governor GC Murmu also reiterated the importance of maintaining a close watch on all inimical elements. He also appreciated the role of J&K Police and other security forces in conducting successful anti-militancy operations amid COVID-19 pandemic and also at the same time working tirelessly to contain its spread in the valley.(KNB)
