Srinagar, July 23: Minister for Forests, Environment and Ecology, MianAltaf Ahmad called on Governor NN Vohra at Raj Bhavan here.
An official spokesman said besides environmental issues, the Governor and MianAltaf reviewed the current status of the Srinagar-Sonamarg road and the pending forest clearances for the projected Zojila Tunnel.
“The Governor and MianAltaf also discussed matters relating to the recent incidents at Baltal and the need to ensure smooth conduct of the ongoing Shri Amarnathji Yatra-2014,” the spokesman said.
It has been reliably learnt that Altaf raised the issue of alleged highhandedness by Army and paramilitary CRPF at Baltal with the Governor and pressed for “immediate need” to curb it. On his part, the Governor is understood to have assured to ensure all steps to maintain peace at Baltal and ensure smooth Yatra.
