Srinagar 18 January (KNB): The MeT department recorded the temperature in Srinagar on Sunday night as -6.4 degree celsius following the continuous biting cold temperature below -7.0 degree Celsius during the previous nights across Srinagar.

The MeT department official had already predicted that the weather in Kashmir would remain dry till 21th of January and the likely wet spell which, according to the weather forecaster, is going to commence in the Kashmir valley from this month’s 22nd evening till to 24th with the moderate intensity.

As the winter in Kashmir is going through the severe period of Chillai Kalan, with the supply of water lines, ponds, lakes and other water bodies being rendered frozen, the temperature in Srinagar has given a bit of respite to the people on Sunday night with the temperature of -6.4 degree celsius.

However, the temperature in Qazigund, Pahalgam, Kupwara, Gulmarg and Leh was recorded as -8.3 Degree Celsius, -6.8 Degree Celsius, -5.2 Degree Celsius -6.0 Degree Celsius and -10.0 Degree Celsius respectively.  (KNB)
