Mehbooba Mufti To Again Head PDP, Re-elected As Party’s President

Srinagar 22 February (KNB): Mehbooba Mufti on Monday was again elected as the president of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after taking up the party’s reigns in 2016 when Mufti Mohammad Syeed died. 

After the death of Mufti Mohammad Syeed in 2016, who remained ill for some time was succeeded by his daughter Mehbooba Mufti as the party’s president in the same year. 

However, on Monday, Mehbooba was elected as the PDP’s President unanimously for three years after her term expired in the ending part of last year. The election to elect the party’s new president could not be held since then because of the pandemic.

During the election of the party’s president, a number of senior leaders of PDP were seen in the meeting. Whereas, the proceedings here were conducted by the chairman election board A R Veeri.

Pertinently, Surinder Choudhary was the Returning Officer for the election of the party’s president in the Jammu division. (KNB)
