Ten houses, 20,500 apple boxes completely damage

Srinagar, Oct 31 : Massive fire broke out in Haril village of Langate constituency leaving ten houses, five cowsheds, six fruit sheds in which 20,500 packed apple boxes, completely gutted in the fire.


According to KNS correspondent Raja Akber, the fire broke out at around 10:30 in the morning ad within no time spread across the whole War Mohalla. As per an estimate, the approximate damage of 20,500 apple boxes lost in the fire amounts to Rs 1.5 crores.
Locals, however, hailed the timely action of Fire services and other civil and police administration for dousing the flames before it could have made further devastation.
“Five fire tenders were put into operation and completely doused the fire at around 2:30 in the afternoon,” the locals told KNS.

MLA Langate Er Rasheed also reached the spot and released 2.5 lakhs from Joint Effort Trust for the fire victims

Rashid at the occasion told that he spoke to CM Mehbooba Mufti and Chief Secretary who assured him that ample compensation would be provided to the victims. “The Red Cross and the government also released Rs 10,000 per family as an immediate relief to the victims,” he said.

The houses and other property gutted in the fire belonged to Mohd Ashraf War, Ghulam Qadir War, Habibullah Wani, Khurshid Ahmed War, Ab Kabir Wani, Ghulam Mohd War, Ab Majeed War and Bashir Ahmed War. (KNS)
