KUNANPOSHPORA BOY TOP CET

Srinagar: The much-awaited Common Entrance Test (CET) has been declared and the topper from remote Kupwara village in north Kashmir is on cloud nine.
“I am very happy and elated,” Haroon Rashid, the boy from remote Kunanposhpora village in frontier Kupwara who topped this year’s CET.
Scoring 207 marks out of 225 in the professional entrance, Haroon says that he was not surprised in achieving the rare feat.
“To be honest, I was expecting it,” Haroon said, attributing his success to hard work, family and the tutors.
“I worked hard and I owe my success to my parents and my tuition teachers in Parraypora Srinagar.”
Haroon Rashid son of Abdul Rashid Bhat had completed his 11th and 12th class studies from S P Higher Secondary School Srinagar and got “individual coaching” in Physics, Chemistry and Biology from tutors in Parraypora here.
Haroon says that it was his first crack at the professional entrance and is thankful to all those who guided him.
“My parents and teachers at school or higher secondary level would always encourage me to set bigger goals and work hard. I think the hard work has paid off,” said Haroon.
Having achieved the “first target”, Haroon now wants to devote his whole attention and energy to become a professional in medicine.
“I want to be a doctor. A real professional so that I could serve my home land in manner they expect me to,” he added.
Bhat family does not have Haroon’s success only reason to celebrate. Incidentally, his elder sister Rukaya Rashid has also cracked the CET this year. “She has been selected for BDS,” Haroon said. Besides the elder sister, Haroon has a little sister and a brother.
Asked about his view on cancellation of the CET exams in June following a goof-up by the Board of Professional Entrance Examinations (BOPEE), Haroon said, “It was disturbing to be honest.”
“Even though I had feared well in the two papers before they were cancelled, it was disturbing.”
Earlier, the BOPEE declared the results of the Common Entrance Test-2013, conducted on July 27 and 28.
While Haroon top ranked in the exam, Hafsa Muzaffar Gundroo and Babar Mohmad followed him in PCB (Physics, Chemistry and Bialogy list) at rank two and three with 199.6 marks each. In Physics, Chemistry and Maths, Shomik Raina son of Satish Kumar Raina top ranked with 185 marks in PCM (Physic, Chemistry and Maths).
