New Delhi, Mar 23 : Unlike recent years a simple but an impressive function was Thursday held at Pakistan Embassy in New Delhi to celebrate the country’s national day. This year there was less gathering of Hurriyat leaders but new youth faces from different shades of life including journalists, entrepreneurs, lawyers and students were witnessed in large numbers.
Due to the arrest of Hurriyat leadership in Kashmir Valley, the Pakistan Republic Day function this year was dawned by many young and dynamic personalities. With youth figures like Uzair Ronga, Sheikh Imran, Mushtaq Bashir who are said to be propounding an upcoming political cum intellectual platform garnered much limelight as their lead group made an impressive presence.
Meanwhile several young journalists including Ajaz War, Malik Sajid, Bilal Bashir Bhat, Rameez Makhdoomi, Shabir Ahmad, Arshid Mir were also central of attraction at the function.
Among activists Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo, Abdul Qadeer, Abdul Rouf were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, High Commissioner Abdul Basit congratulated all Pakistan nationals in India on this auspicious occasion. He stated that Under the impeccable and sagacious leadership of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah, the Muslims of the sub-continent realized their dream. It was now incumbent upon us to make Pakistan a truly welfare state as envisioned by the Quaid-e-Azam.
Basit while quoting the recent survey of United Nations said Pakistan is not the richest but one of the happiest countries of world. A three-minute short documentary based on the developments in Pakistan was also screened on the occasion.
Prof Abdul Gani Bhat, Musadiq Adil, Aga Syed Hassan, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, Syed Salim Geelani, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Bilal Sidiqe, Bita Karate, Qazi Yasir, Shabir Ahmad Dar, Imtiyaz Ahmad Reshi were among other Hurriyat leaders present on the occasion.
Meanwhile Dukhtaran-e-Millat on Thursday celebrated the Pakistan Day by holding a programme held at Srinagar which chaired by, Syedah Aasiyeh Andrabi, and was attended by hundreds of party members, a statement issued here said.
In the programme, the flag of Pakistan was raised and the anthem was sung to express the love for Pakistan
