“Jammu administration not allowing us to enter J&K”

Srinagar, April 3 (KNB): A group of 14 students from the Jammu and Kashmir are stuck in a quarantine centre in Amritsar even after completing the designated quarantine period after Jammu civil administration refused to allow them to enter cross the border.
The Kashmiri students who were studying in Pakistan were sent to Vivek Anand Rehabilitation Centre in Amritsar for mandatory quarantine after crossing over the border is still there for the last 16 days.
One of the students while talking to Kashmir News Bureau (KNB) on phone said, “Although we have completed our 14 days of quarantine period and the rehabilitation center has also provided us the permission to travel back to our homes but the higher authorities of Jammu are not allowing us to cross the border.”
She further said,” We contacted DC Amritsar as well as the DC Srinagar and both of them have given us permission to travel to our homes but DC Jammu is not allowing us to enter J&K. He told us that he won’t allow our entry in J&K unless he gets orders from higher authorities.”
“We are requesting higher authorities to allow us permission to travel back to our homes. We have completed our quarantine period and all our medical tests were declared negative for the Covid 19,” she further said.
Meanwhile, Private Schools’ Association of Jammu and Kashmir (PSAJK) has expressed its concern on the condition of more than 150 Iran returned MBBS students of Kashmir, who despite testing negative twice and completing their 28 days quarantine period are not being brought home.
When Kashmir News Bureau contacted Divisional commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma he said “I will request Divisional Commissioner Kashmir be contacted in the regard.” (KNB)
