Kashmiri Journalist beaten up to Pulp by Security guard at Skims

Srinagar, Mar 26: Despite the reports of harassment were reported in media, the security guards of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences Soura Wednesday crossed all the limits by beating the attendants including a journalist at outside the parking area.

In a latest incident, Kurshid Qureshi, a journalist by profession was beaten to pulp by the security guards of the SKIMS, when he urged a top security guard to make friendly behavior, after he found former beating an attendant at the premises of most visited hospital of the Valley.

“I tried to stop him (security guard) while beating a youth attended, as soon as I went to leave the place he along with other guards held me from back and start beating me mercilessly without any reason, even they dragged me to the ground and torn all my clothes. I tried my best to rescue myself but was failed due to the injuries,” said Kurshid Qureshi working as a senior Editor with a local daily.

“He not only beaten me but used some abusive language also, after he went to know that I belong to Media. They also hit my car with canes and caused damage. I appeal authorities particularly the Director SKIMS to intervene into the matter followed by the investigation that how these security guards have been harassing people,” Qureshi added.

It is not the first time that such reports are pouring from SKIMS, but in past too. Recently Hilal Ahmad Khan, who visited SKIMS for treatment of his son, was allegedly beaten by the security guards outside the parking area.
