J&K’s excise commissioner held guilty of contempt of court*

Jammu, Oct 12: A local court in Jammu on Monday held J&K’s excise commissioner guilty of contempt of court.

According to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the 2nd additional judge Jammu held the excise commissioner guilty for disobeying the court order, observing that the defense set up by him is sham and frivolous.

The Court said it is left with no other option except to subject the contemnor/defiant to suffer civil imprisonment.

“For the purpose of settling the term of civil imprisonment, the contemnor is directed to surrender himself before this court on 14-10 -2020 at 10:00 am failing which he shall render himself liable to arrested by warrants of arrest for his attendance and appearance before the court for follow-up order to commit him to civil imprisonment,” the Court order reads—(KNO)
