Massive protests broke out in Habba Kadal area of downtown Srinagar on Saturday with people taking to streets against the detention of some youth and damaging of property by paramilitary forces last night.
Witnesses said that paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) men detained several youth from the locality last night.
“They also broke windowpanes of several houses and vehicles,” said a local.
He said that youth took to streets to protest the action of the forces today morning.
According to sources the situation in the area was very tense and that police and paramilitary forces were deployed in strength to prevent any large gathering.
