Deputy Commissioner DC Pulwama, Manzoor Ahmad Lone is considered to be dynamic administrative officer of our state.
In an exclusive interview with The Kashmir Scenario, Manzoor Lone Talks to Syed Tajamul Hussain.
Tell us a bit about your administrative life?
It was twenty five years back, when I joined civil services, since then I have served at coveted positions like DC Kulgam and DC Bandipora. Currently I am appointed as DC Pulwama.
It is for the third time, I have achieved a milestone of looking after the administrative affairs of district and I am highly optimistic that I will meet the desired expectations.
Pulwama town being the epicenter of South Kashmir has seen frequent traffic mess and there is no proper parking facility provided by the authorities, what is your take on this?
As far as the traffic problem is concerned it is certainly a serious issue. But, we are taking concrete steps to address it. In this regard, we have established a small parking space for the general public near Shaheed Park in Pulwama and we are also thinking for shifting the old bus stand to another place, just in order to ease the flow of traffic. I can say that this process would immediately yield desired results.
There is a grave problem of electricity in the main town of Pulwama and the administration has almost failed to address the same. What action the authorities have taken over it?
Well I do agree that problem of load shedding in main problem faced by people especially residing in Pulwama Town . I want to mention that with reference to this problem we have given a deadline of 15 days to Municipal Committee and Power department to address the grievances within two weeks’ time.
Another grievance the people of Pulwama have is the Streets and roads are in dilapidated condition. No process of macadamization has taken place. Does it mean the authorities are in slumber over the condition of roads?
We have to bear in mind that Pulwama is a big town. I have visited this place two times, but now as DC Pulwama, I do agree that the condition of roads is not that good and it will take a lot of time almost one year to repair especially all streets, roads of main town so that it would look like a beautiful town.”
Public utilities in Bus Stand Pulwama are quite defunct and the Municipal Committee of Pulwama have turned the same into a garbage dump. The people have also raised their voices against the municipal committee, but no action has been taken so far. Why the authorities have failed to address the same.
I do agree that the Public utilities in Pulwama are not presenting a promising picture and we have given an estimate time of few days to Municipal Committee Pulwama after few days it will be functional for public use. And also we are looking for a site on which we can build more Public utilities in Pulwama town and during my interaction with people they definitely crave for more public utilities.
