Hakim Yasin asks govt to review new recruitment policy

Says merit will lose relevance, transparency will become causality in new policy

Srinagar, Apr 21: Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) president and MLA Khansahib Hakim Mohammad Yasin Tuesday urged the government to immediately review the new recruitment policy as merit will lose relevance and transparency in the recruitment policy will become causality in the new policy.

In a press statement Hakim Yasin said, “This policy has left no utility for Public Service Commission (PSC) and Services Selection Board (SSB). No doubt through new policy recruitments will be done on fast track basis but political interference will mar the process. Based on the past experiences it has been observed that under the new policy political interference in making recruitments will erode the credibility of institutions.”

Stating that merit will lose its relevance and transparency in the recruitment process will be over through new policy, he said, “the new recruitment policy would in no way help the aggrieved jobless youth of the state but would add to their agonies and woes at large.”

“An educated person on a gazetted post will have to work for seven years on nominal salary on contract. Departmental promotions through PSC and SSB will also suffer due to this policy,” he added.

He urged the government to immediately review the policy. “If they (government) still want to go ahead, they should make it sure that the candidates are recruited through PSC and SSB only. Also the appointments should be made on regular basis and not on the contract,” the PDF chairman demanded.
