Gulmarg Avalanche Deaths: Locals aghast why services of High Altitude Warfare school not pressed

Today in unfortunate incident A Russian skier was killed when he came under an avalanche in world famous ski resort Gulmarg on Friday, police said, taking toll of skiers killed in the famed hill resort to two this winter.

The dead skier has been identified as Stanis Law, 30.


Such incidents at world famous ski resort of Gulmarg are now often heard but locals and ground voices are questioning the rescue mechanism of administration .

According to locals and reports available to the Kashmir News Bureau despite the world famous High Altitude Warfare school of Army located in Gulmarg their services were not pressed into the service as they are more professional and globally reputed in dealing with such rescue operations and are infact kept unaware about sam .
Local sources said KNB that “mining activity was going on in the region and it has been standard not to allow any activity for at least 8 hours after it but Administration hardly follows that norm thus taking huge risks.”

A Local Pleading Anonymity stated –
“The rescue operations post an avalanche at Gulmarg are all carried out in haste without taking into loop the services of famous High Altitude Warfare School of army located here in Gulmarg as a result deaths occur. Infact they should be the first one to react but be it civil administration or tourism they act like too many cooks spoil the broth without letting know the required professional institute to react.”
