GoI Endangers Lives of Kashmir’s Political Opponents: Mehbooba Mufti

Srinagar 15 January (KNB): Mehbooba Mufti said on her twitter handle that Indian government is deliberately endangering lives of political opponents following Nayeem Akhtar’s deteriorated health, who was yesterday shifted to hospital, in a detention centre.

Mehbooba — terming the detention of Nayeem Akhtar as illegal detention in a government building — tweeted that “Nayeem Sahab’s illegal detention in a  government building ill equipped for Kashmir’s biting cold finally took a toll on his health.”

She further added in her tweet “Going by GOIs callous & spiteful attitude it seems like they deliberately want to endanger political opponents.” (KNB)

Since August 2019 Nayeem Akhtar was arrested twice — first booked under the Public Safety Act in 2019 and then arrested in December last year before the DDC’s vote counting. (KNB)
