Former MP and Ex. MLA Mohammad Shafi Bhat passed away today at his Srinagar residence . He enjoyed long political career. He was elected to Legislative assembly on National Conference ticket From Amira Kadal assembly segment in 1996 .But latter he parted ways with NC and joined Indian National Congress ( INC) and was reelected from Amira Kadal Constituency on INC Ticket in 2002.
Latter he was elected to Parliament. He was father of BJP leader Dr. Hina Bhat. Hina fought assembly elections unsuccessfully from Amira Kadal Constituency on BJP ticket and at present she is Party’s senior face District Vice President Srinagar. BJP leaders have expressed grief over his demise and have offered their deepest condolence to Dr Hina and his family .
