CHANDIGARH: Dr IT Group, Organized Declamation and Quiz contest on Aprajita March 8th International Women’s day in Banur Campus. Ms Ritu Kapoor Director of Kashmir Group of Companies and S. Gurmeet Singh Seerah, HR Manager of Kashmir Group of Companies were the Chief Guests on this occasion.
Ms Ritu Kapoor addressed the students and compared all the women with the bees who took all the responsibilities on their solders. She further elaborated that many of the values and approaches in life are learnt by children from their mother. A woman’s role extends from being an important member of the family like daughter, sister, wife, and mother, to being a determinant of social development, as well as an architect of and contributor to building the nation.
S. Gurmeet Singh Seerah, HR Manager of Kashmir Group of Companies said “I think having a special day for women is just an excuse for all the so-called women’s activists and feminists to conduct seminars and make speeches airing their useless views. What have they really achieved? Dowry deaths, female infanticide, domestic violence, illiteracy all these things are still happening. We need to change our point of view our thinking then we can see changes.
CEO Ms. Deepti Batra said that it is meaningless to fix one day of the year as Women’s Day as women all over the world are in a continuous battle within the society. Each and every day should be celebrated as woman’s day.
Prof. P.P. Arya, the Managing Director of Institutes welcomed the Chief Guest & said that Women are pillars of society. He further stated – “In the present scenario women are contributing towards every sphere of life whether political, social or economical.”
Students from different colleges (including students from Punjabi University & various PTU Affiliated colleges) participated in the contest. The First prize in Declamation contest was won by Karamjot Ahuja, student of Mohinder College, Patiala, second position garbed by Gautam, student of ITFT College, third position won by Shoaib student of Dr IT Group.
The occasion ended with the statement that we have to work together to build a strong nation. No country can achieve its full potential without adequately developing the capabilities of its women.
