Mufti’s unconditional sell-out being exposed says Junaid Azim Mattu
Srinagar | Friday May 1st, 2015: National Conference on Friday hit out at PDP for the Government of India’s categorical decision to deny increasing steps to ensure free movement of people across the LoC and its refusal to expand the trans-LoC and trans-border trade. Pertinently, responding to a question asked by PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in a written reply has said “no such proposal was in place”. As per media reports , the Central Government has also made it clear that it has no intention of opening new trade links between the two divided parts of Kashmir like the Kargil-Skardu link that had been promised by Mufti Sayeed before forging an alliance with the BJP.
“This is yet another significant revelation and one that has ironically come to fore through the proverbial culprit herself. I am certain Mehbooba Ji must have expected a different, rhetorical reply but it does seem she was unaware of the fact that – as much as she would want the Government to lie – the Government cannot lie while responding to questions by Parliamentarians. Now it has become clear that the unimaginative PDP-BJP ‘Common Minimum Program’ as well as their farce of an ‘Agenda for Alliance’ were petty attempts to create moral smokescreens for an effortless, unconditional and complete sell-out by Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Mehbooba Mufti and their party”, NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu said in a statement issued from NC Headquarters in Srinagar.
Quoting from PDP’s “Agenda of Alliance” released after PDP scripted an expected surrender in front of the BJP, the NC Spokesman said “PDP’s Agenda of Alliance while talking about steps to normalize relations with Pakistan clearly states that both PDP and BJP will take Confidence Building Measures such as ‘enhancing people to people contact on both sides of the LoC, encouraging civil society exchanges, taking travel, commerce, trade and business across the LoC to the next level and opening new routes across all three regions to enhance connectivity’. This rhetoric we were told was the basis of the alliance between the two parties”, the NC Spokesman stated.
“Now the Union Home Ministry has yet again debunked multiple Mufti lies in one stroke. First, Mufti had promised an expansion of the cross LoC Trade both during his election rallies as well as formally in his ‘Agenda of Alliance’ farce with the BJP. Clearly, this was a big lie. Second, Mufti Sayeed had promised opening up of new trade-links across the LoC and International Border if voted to power. This promise was also a part of the ‘Agenda of Alliance’. This too has been exposed as a misleading smokescreen and a big lie. Then there was the lie that Mufti peddled in his election speeches about opening the Kargil-Skardu route if voted to power. The Union Home Ministry has closed that chapter too and closed it rather categorically and unceremoniously – thanks to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s penchant to make up things”, NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu said in the statement.
According to statement issued to The Kashmir Scenario NC Spokesman said that while Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s famed ability to lie dramatically might have served him very well up to this point in his political career, the same tendency is now exposing him and his party every alternate day. “When former PM Vajpayee Ji and former Pakistan President General Musharraf succeeded in announcing CBMs of cross LoC trade and opening of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road and other similar initiatives – Mufti Sayeed impetuously ran to erect hoardings in Srinagar with his picture affixed on banners with pictures of Vajpayee Ji and General Musharaf and started peddling a ridiculous joke of a lie that it was he who had in fact ordered Vajpayee Ji and General Musharaf to sit across the table and conceive these initiatives. It took no time to find out back then as well that there is no limit to Mufti Sayeed’s lying and tendency to make up thing. Today, again while occupying the sacred chair of this State’s Chief Minister, Mufti Sahab has been caught lying through his teeth. Yet again PDP stands exposed as a party that is invested in propaganda and is least concerned about governance and statesmanship”, NC Spokesman Junaid Mattu added.
The National Conference Spokesman said that Mehbooba Mufti’s misadventure in the Parliament had exposed her party and her father without an iota of doubt. Mattu also asked PDP to explain what remained of their bogus ‘CMP’ and their farce of an ‘Agenda of Alliance’ now – after almost single every promise made by them is being revealed to be a lie with every passing day. “There are expert liars and experienced theatrical geniuses in PDP who I am sure can find the courage and the face to turn this also around on a moral pedestal. I hope PDP comes forward and enacts another drama and lies some more to conceal their past lies – because that is all there is left now and that is precisely what will prove to be the party’s nemesis. PDP’s politics of a high-moral ground has ended in an unimaginative, paradox of an anti-climax”, National Conference Spokesman Junaid Mattu added while lashing out at the PDP in the statement issued on Friday.
